Martinez Gone for Season in Fort Myers
Wednesday, July 28th, 1982
Ignacio Martinez of the Palms just might have to call it quits for the season. The 23-year-old Fort Myers starting pitcher received a possible season-ending injury against the Daytona Beach Islanders recently at Yankees Ballpark. Martinez suffered a torn rotator cuff while throwing a pitch. The Palms medical staff said he could be out quite some time, as much as 4 months.

This season Martinez has crafted a 0-0 mark with a 5.55 ERA in 47 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .280 against him and he has 26 strikeouts.
