Spirits Elijah Ben Swings Hot Bat, CRL Winner Monday, July 26th, 1982 21-year-old Elijah Ben made a few Winston-Salem headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Carolina League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 10 hits in 24 at-bats to put up a .417 average. Ben collected 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and scored 6 runs. So far this year Ben has hit .289 with 8 home runs, 24 RBIs and 16 runs scored. |
