Rocky Mount Starter Wins July's Pitcher Award Sunday, August 1st, 1982 The Carolina League scribes have selected July's Pitcher of the Month and have awarded the honor to Vic Irizarry of Rocky Mount. He was outstanding on the hill last month and has the numbers to prove it -- a 5-0 record. The Leafs star performer made 5 starts with a 1.87 ERA and surrendered 30 hits in 43.1 innings. He struck out 31 and walked 11. For the season Irizarry has compiled a 6-0 record with a 2.42 ERA. |
