Krawczyk Gets Award for Relief Work
Saturday, September 11th, 1982
Ray Krawczyk was a calming influence out of the Greensboro Hornets bullpen this season.
His teammates and manager said he had a poised demeanor about him that was typical of someone much older and more experienced. His poise has paid off, as the 22-year-old turned in a sparkling season and has been named the winner of the Carolina League Reliever of the Year Award for 1982.
The Sewickley, Pennsylvania native won the award with 4 saves in 32 relief appearances, 45 strikeouts in 38 innings and a record of 6-1 to go with his 1.66 ERA.
He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 9. Orlando Ochoa of the Greensboro Hornets finished second in voting, while Edgar Cruz of the Rocky Mount Leafs finished third with 1 first place vote.
