Western Carolinas League Names Top Player Monday, August 2nd, 1982 Mark Gerard has been in a real groove lately. The 21-year-old Sumter Gamecocks first baseman nabbed Western Carolinas League Player of the Week honors today after beating up on opposing pitchers all last week. Gerard's hot streak featured 9 hits in 24 at-bats, 3 home runs, 13 RBIs, 6 runs scored and a .375 average. Gerard is presently hitting at a .248 pace with 15 home runs, 58 RBIs and has scored 37 times. |
