Hille Tosses Shutout Against Spartanburg
Wednesday, August 25th, 1982
It wasn't easy but the Greenville Spinners made it look that way.
Starter Richard Hille shut out the Spartanburg Spartans despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Greenville Spinners cruised to victory, 6-0. Hille allowed only 3 hits and rang up 4 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
This year Hille has registered 15 wins and 10 losses in 29 starts with a 3.12 ERA while registering 93 strikeouts and 86 walks in 230.2 innings.
