Gastonia's Russell WCL #1 Batter in August Wednesday, September 1st, 1982 When john W Russell stepped up to the plate in August he did it with confidence, and today he was honored with the Western Carolinas League Batter of the Month award. The young Gastonia catcher posted a .367 batting average with 6 home runs, 22 RBIs and scored 14 runs. Russell also worked pitchers for 9 walks to post a .432 on-base percentage. For the year Russell is batting .333 with 10 home runs. |
