Rebels Win Round 1 Crown
Saturday, September 4th, 1982
It was a hard-fought battle for both teams to make it this far. But as the saying goes, "to the victors go the spoils." For the victorious Anderson Rebels, that meant the Western Carolinas League Round 1 trophy.

The Rebels took a 9-3 victory over the Greenwood Grizzlies at Legion Stadium, winning their 3rd championship after taking the series 4-2.

"We've got grit," said Rebels center fielder Jose Bernhardt, who was named MVP of the series. "We know how to win when we have to."

The new titleholders completed the regular season with a second-place finish in the Western Carolinas League and a 70-50 record.
