Hawks Hurler Chavez Tosses Masterpiece Saturday, June 19th, 1982 It wasn't easy but Victor Chavez made it look that way. Chavez silenced the Danville Veterans, 1-0, in a Waterloo Hawks triumph at Danville Stadium today. Despite the appearance of dominance, Chavez said later that he felt like he was struggling all game. He gave up 4 walks and 4 hits. "It didn't feel quite right today, but I made the decision to bear down and work through it," he said. "I made a few mistakes but it goes to show what you can do with grit and not much else."
