Timbers Get Zilch in 6-0 Loss to Hawks, Arrieta
Saturday, July 3rd, 1982
"Good pitching beats good hitting" is an old baseball adage.
Well, good pitching also beats bad hitting.
Albert Arrieta of the Waterloo Hawks proved the point at Waterloo Municipal Stadium today, holding the Wausau Timbers to 5 hits in a complete game shutout victory.
"Arrieta made us look real bad today," Timbers manager said in his postgame interview. "He was outstanding. He was down in the zone with all his pitches. Everything was sinking."
Arrieta had 4 strikeouts and gave up 2 walks as the Hawks took the 6-0 win.
This season Arrieta has compiled a 8-6 record with a 3.26 ERA in 16 starts.
