Ficklin and Korczyk Suspended, Out 4 Games Thursday, August 5th, 1982 Baseball officials have notified the Cardinals and Timber Rattlers organizations that one of their players has been suspended for "inappropriate and aggressive behavior" in yesterday's Cedar Rapids-Wisconsin Rapids contest at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Winston Ficklin of the Cardinals and Steve Korczyk of the Timber Rattlers will have to sit out 4 games for their roles in the free-for-all brawl. For the year Ficklin is batting .216 with 5 home runs, 28 RBIs and 42 runs scored. This season Korczyk has made 22 relief appearances, recorded 1 save and compiled a 3-1 won-lost mark and a 4.13 ERA. In pitching 32.2 innings, he has totaled 19 strikeouts and 19 walks. |
