Big Day with Bat: Clayton 5-for-7
Tuesday, August 10th, 1982
It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Kenneth Clayton of the Sioux Falls Packers. Clayton went on a tear at Sioux Falls Stadium and cracked hit after hit off Aberdeen pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 24-year-old first baseman had a career 5-for-7 day and something he will long remember.
"Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell them we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview.
Despite Clayton's personal accolades, the Aberdeen Pheasants walked off the field with the 9-8 win.
Kenneth Clayton struck out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 7th, singled in the 9th, singled in the 10th and grounded out in the 12th.
Clayton is currently batting .358 with 1 home run, 20 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 39 hits in 109 at-bats.
