Huron Defeats St. Cloud
Thursday, September 2nd, 1982
The Huron Cubs were good enough to get past the St. Cloud Rox at Rox Park today and secure the 3rd championship in franchise history.
"When you wear Cubs on your shirt, you're good at something," Huron skipper told the press.
Cubs left fielder Willis Gonzalez was named MVP of the series after he went .444 with 3 home runs and 4 RBI.
"It feels totally incredible," Gonzalez said. "I could live to 1,000 years old and I'd remember this moment."
The new champions capped off a great season with a 6-3 victory over the Rox to win the Round 1 4-1.
