5-for-5 Day for Hoff
Sunday, August 8th, 1982
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
William Hoff is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-5 against the Kingsport Cherokees at Johnson Stadium today. The monster effort from the 22-year-old first baseman helped the Covington Blue Sox take the win, 11-1.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Cherokees manager . "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
William Hoff singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and tripled in the 9th.
Looking at his stats this year, Hoff has compiled a .333 batting average, while hitting 4 home runs and driving in 22 runs. He has played in 35 games and scored 25 runs.
