Consecutive-Game Hit Streak Continues for Quinones Thursday, August 12th, 1982 With 1 hit at Johnson Stadium today, Rey Quinones added another game to his hitting streak -- the Marion shortstop has now hit safely for 20 games in a row. But the hitting feat wasn't enough for the Mets today, as they fell, 9-6, to the Kingsport Cherokees. "Frankly, I don't care about hits," Kingsport manager said later. "I'll let him get 5 hits in 5 at-bats if it means we get a win." Rey Quinones grounded out in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and flied out in the 8th. For the year Quinones has hit at a .318 clip with 38 RBIs, 6 home runs and 33 runs scored. |
