Quinones Hit String Snapped at 22 Sunday, August 15th, 1982 Marion Mets shortstop Rey Quinones finally met his Waterloo. A 22-game hitting spree is now history after Quinones was unable to make anything happen in 4 at-bats today against the Johnson City Soilders. Fortunately for Quinones and the Mets, the rest of his team had enough in their bats to win the game 8-5. "We're a true team here," he said. "For 22 games I've been able to contribute, but I always believed these guys would take care of things if I couldn't some day." This year Quinones is batting .322 with 8 home runs. He has scored 35 runs and driven in 41. |
