Bees Triumph in 1982 Round 1
Wednesday, August 25th, 1982
It's party time in Bristol. The confetti is flying and residents are smiling.
The Bristol Bees have reached the mountaintop, capturing the 1982 Round 1 today. They defeated the Covington Blue Sox 11-1 at Devault Memorial Stadium to officially wrap up the series 4-1.
Asked how it feels to be champion, right fielder Joe Orsulak was to the point.
"It feels great, like a million bucks. I'm so happy right now, not just for me but for all the guys," he said. "We put a lot of work into this and deserve to be champions."
The team is planning a victory parade and fan appreciation day later in the week. Bristol finished the regular season 34-20 and claimed second place in the Appalachian League.
