William Hoff Gets MVP Trophy

William Hoff took Appalachian League by storm this year, and he did it all at the age of 22.

For his spectacular campaign, the Covington Blue Sox star has been named the 1982 Appalachian League Most Valuable Player Award recipient.

"To be considered amongst the best in the league is overwhelming," said the first baseman.

On the season he compiled a .327 batting average to go with a .455 on-base percentage. The native of The United States also added 3 doubles, 6 triples, 7 home runs, 28 RBIs and 32 runs scored.

He received 3 first place votes out of a possible 9. Tito Nanni of the Covington Blue Sox finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Edgardo Maciel of the Blacksburg Tribe finished third with 3 first place votes.
