Walla Walla Hopeless Against de Dios
Wednesday, September 1st, 1982
It wasn't easy but the Medford Nuggets made it look that way.
Starter Alex de Dios shut out the Walla Walla Walleyes despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Medford Nuggets cruised to victory, 6-0. de Dios allowed only 4 hits and rang up 7 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
Season-to-date de Dios has rung up 4 wins and 8 losses in 15 appearances. He has an ERA of 4.83 and has fanned 57 batters in 100.2 innings.
