Reliever of the Year Award Goes to Canavan
Friday, September 24th, 1982
James Canavan said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 21 years old.

But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the Bend Bandits rising star has won the Northwest League Reliever of the Year Award for 1982.

He captured the award on the strength of his 2.23 ERA over 48.1 innings. He also had 5 saves in 24 relief appearances, 46 strikeouts and only 36 walks.

He received 10 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Alex Marquez of the Walla Walla Walleyes finished second in voting, while Dan Yokubaitis of the Kennewick Bear Cubs finished third.
