Almendarez Hurls 4-0 Shutout Friday, July 16th, 1982 Ruben Almendarez was sneaky fast, on the mark and hard to hit today. He led the Aberdeen Ironbirds to victory 4-0, blanking the Utica Blue Jays on 1 hit. He had 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. "You know what he's going to throw. You know what to expect. And you still can't hit it," Utica skipper told reporters after the shutout loss. "He just had a real deceptive fastball today and he was throwing it for strikes."
