Wilkinson Shuts Out Rapids, 5-0 Sunday, August 15th, 1982 Bill Wilkinson dominated the Niagara Falls Rapids with a brilliant 6-hit shutout in a Summit Red Dragons 5-0 triumph at Hyde Park Stadium. The Summit hurler fanned 9 and walked 2 in the game and was singled out for praise afterward by the opposing manager.
"He really kept us in check today," Rapids skipper said in his postgame comments. "Everything looked to be moving. Seemed like the pitch was right down the middle and it went over down and away. We took some pathetic swings."
This season Wilkinson has worked 100.1 innings with 107 strikeouts en route to a 9-2 record and a 1.88 ERA.
