Snider Hit String Snapped at 26
Wednesday, July 14th, 1982
All good things must come to an end -- and so it was today for Van Snider as he saw his 26-game hitting streak end. He went hitless in 3 at-bats at the hands of the Port Arthur Pirates.

It wasn't all bad for the 18-year-old right fielder and the Galveston Sand Crabs however, as they defeated Port Arthur 4-3 at Pirate City Park.

When asked about his hitting streak, a smiling Snider laughed and said, "I guess my luck ran out today."

On the year Snider has hit .345 with 10 home runs, 28 RBIs and scored 24 runs.
