5-for-5 Game for Thomas Wednesday, August 4th, 1982 Tampa Twisters shortstop Andres Thomas had a day to remember at Allyn Field today, ripping apart the Sarasota Eagles and sparking the Twisters to a 8-7 victory. Thomas wrote his name in the record books with a 5-hit barrage, finishing his special day 5-for-5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," Thomas told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid it." Andres Thomas singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, hit an RBI double in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
