Gulf Coast League Won: Twisters on Top
Tuesday, August 17th, 1982
Grown men turned into little boys in the Tampa Twisters clubhouse, as the realization set in: the club had clinched the Gulf Coast League.
"We can relax a bit, for now anyway," said the club's manager. "I'm proud of every guy in the room for what we've done this season."
The club has a 41-18 record as they head towards the playoffs in search of their 3rd Round 1 championship. Third Baseman John Hotchkiss said the team is happy to clinch what is the club's 4th division title, but added that "we won't be happy until we're lifting that trophy."
