Wednesday, September 1st, 1982
There was little doubt around the Gulf Coast League that Toby Blythe would be awarded Pitcher of the Month honors for August. Today, they made it official, naming the 20-year-old Port Lavaca Indians starter the latest honoree.
He thoroughly dominated the hitters who stood in against him, holding them to a .224 batting average while fashioning a 3.51 ERA in 7 starts. His record for the month was 6-1 in 56.1 innings of work.
This year Blythe has a 13-5 record with a 4.05 ERA in 22 starts.
