1982 Premier Player Picked By GULF Thursday, September 16th, 1982
The manager of the Tampa Twisters said he thinks John Hotchkiss is only going to get better as he gets older.
He may only be 23, but it will be hard to top the third baseman's 1982 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the Gulf Coast League Most Valuable Player Award.
His winning campaign featured a .308 batting average and a .423 on-base percentage this year. In 58 games he piled up 66 hits, 17 doubles, 1 triple, 12 home runs, 34 RBIs and 51 runs scored.
He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 10. Van Snider of the Galveston Sand Crabs finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Ron Darling of the Dunedin Rangers finished third with 1 first place vote.
