Sandberg Belts 5 Hits Thursday, December 17th, 1981 Ryne Sandberg had an answer for everything the Port-au-Prince Pirates threw at him today at Pirates Plank Field. The Santa Domingo second baseman went 5-for-7 in the game to put his name in the record book and put the Colonials on top, 25-2. Summing up his batting philosophy to BNN writers after the game, Sandberg said, "I just see the ball and I hit it." Ryne Sandberg hit an RBI triple in the 2nd, struck out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.
