Lea at His Best, Whips Black Sails
Monday, January 18th, 1982
Charlie Lea hurled a fine game for the Mazatlan Playas at Sails Ballpark today, holding the Nassau Black Sails to 2 hits in a shutout win.
"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Mazatlan manager said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
The right-hander had 12 strikeouts and 2 walks in the 6-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," Nassau manager said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
On the season Lea has 4 wins and 5 losses and a 2.69 ERA.
