The manager of the Santa Domingo Colonials said he thinks Ryne Sandberg is only going to get better as he gets older.

He may only be 22, but it will be hard to top the second baseman's 1981 campaign, as he has been named the winner of the South of the Border Most Valuable Player Award.

His winning campaign featured a .387 batting average and a .420 on-base percentage this year. In 28 games he piled up 43 hits, 2 doubles, 5 triples, 2 home runs, 19 RBIs and 21 runs scored.

He received 2 first place votes, as a unanimous winner.
