Sunrise HS's Escobar Sidelined for Season
Tuesday, April 28th, 1970
After injuring himself, Nitros reliever Elias Escobar headed straight to the hospital. He was removed from the game as a precaution after throwing a pitch, and the team's worst fears were confirmed when it turned out to be a little more serious. Escobar will miss at least 12 months with a damaged elbow ligament.

This year Escobar has collected no saves in 12 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 0-1 won-lost mark with a 3.71 ERA and fanned 15 batters in 17 innings. Opponents are hitting him at a .239 clip in 1970.
