Jackson HS's Stenberg Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Tuesday, April 28th, 1970
Jackson HS shortstop Jamie Stenberg could do no wrong in today's 12-5 win over the Mad Ants as he collected 5 hits.
"Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Mad Ants skipper said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts."
Stenberg agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game.
"Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready."
Jamie Stenberg singled in the 1st, was hit by a pitch in the 3rd, hit a two-run single in the 3rd, singled in the 6th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.
Thus far this season Stenberg is hitting .396 with 1 home run, 15 RBIs and 22 runs scored. He has 38 hits in 96 at-bats and has played in 24 games.
