Thoroughbreds Ayala Named SL1's #1 Player Monday, May 11th, 1970 The votes have been cast and counted and the winner of the Conference 1 Player of the Week has been chosen. It was presented earlier today to Alberto Ayala for his red-hot week of hitting. The Wilmington HS third baseman took home the trophy by splurging with 11 hits in 23 at-bats for a .478 batting average, driving in 19 runs and scoring 7 times. This year Ayala is batting .393 with 7 home runs and 49 RBIs. |
