Bland Takes This Week's Trophy Monday, May 11th, 1970 Kendall HS Styx left fielder Ken Bland had a great time at the plate last week, running up some sensational numbers that no one else could match. Few people were surprised today when the Conference 2 named him Player of the Week. Bland banged out 16 hits in 25 at-bats on the way to a .640 batting average. He also racked up no home runs, 10 RBIs and 6 runs scored. In 34 games this season Bland is batting .374 with 52 hits and 1 home run. He has scored 30 runs and driven in 27. |
