Red Dragons Ace Wheeler Cops Pitcher of the Year Award Monday, May 25th, 1970 The Pitcher of the Year Award for 1970 has been presented and the Conference 1 winner is Brian Wheeler of Clarksville HS. "It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Wheeler. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Red Dragons star told reporters. Wheeler excelled with an impressive 3-1 record in 10 starts. In 54.2 innings he yielded 37 hits and 17 walks, while striking out 47 and compiling a fine 1.98 ERA. Bob Hollar of the Deltona HS Yard Dawgs finished second in voting, while Caleb Echard of the Deltona HS Yard Dawgs finished third. |
