SL2 Names Pitcher of the Year Award Winner Monday, May 25th, 1970 The Conway HS clubhouse staff referred to him as "the kid" this season. Next year Joe Geller will have to have a new nickname. He earned it after winning the 1970 Conference 2 Pitcher of the Year Award. Geller made 9 starts this year, winning 4 and losing 0. He threw 50.2 innings, fanned 43, allowed 33 hits and 15 walks, while holding opposing teams to a .182 average as he logged an impressive 1.60 ERA. Brett Fishel of the Country Club HS Challenger finished second in voting, while Joe Devitt of the Marietta HS Cretins finished third. |
