It was a very good year for Concord HS Foxhounds catcher Jason Sickman, 1970's Conference 1 Most Valuable Player Award.

Sickman hit .480 with a .552 on-base percentage. He had 73 hits in 152 at-bats, including 13 doubles, 1 triple and 7 home runs. Sickman drove in 44 runs and scored 39 times in his award-winning season.

Allen Hardee of the Carol City HS Rascals finished second in voting, while Adam Davis of the North Charleston HS Fighting Falcons finished third.
