Mendez Slams 5 Hits for Sandy Springs HS Sunday, April 5th, 1970 Guadalupe Mendez really sizzled at the plate in today's 27-9 win over Fighting Falcons. The Sandy Springs HS first baseman blistered North Charleston HS for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. "Mendez was too tough to get out today," the Fighting Falcons skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too." Guadalupe Mendez doubled in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, walked in a run in the 5th, struck out in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 7th.
