Tom Shortridge Injured, Out for Season
Friday, April 10th, 1970
The Oilmen received bad news this morning. Tom Shortridge will miss 5 months due to a broken kneecap. He sustained the injury in the Miami Beach HS-Miramar HS game while colliding with a player at a base. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Shortridge sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."

This year Shortridge is batting .417 with no home runs and 10 RBIs. In 9 games he has scored 7 times.
