McNeil Boosts Hit Streak to 20 Games Saturday, April 25th, 1970 Win or lose, Greg McNeil just keeps on getting base hits -- game after game after game. He picked up 2 more today and has now stretched his hitting streak to 20 games. The Wilmington HS Thoroughbreds second baseman went 2-for-5 today, but it wasn't enough to win the game. His club was defeated 11-7 by the Clarksville HS Red Dragons at Sox Ballpark. "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "We just don't want to jinx him." Greg McNeil singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and grounded out in the 7th. So far this season McNeil has gotten 39 hits in 86 at-bats for a .453 batting average with 3 home runs. His stats include 25 RBIs and 27 runs scored. He has played in 21 games. |
