5-Hit Blitz by Castro Tuesday, April 28th, 1970 It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Dave Castro, it came around today. The 15-year-old catcher scattered hits all over Blasters Ballpark to pace the San Mateo HS Birds to a 21-8 victory over the Napa HS Blasters. Napa HS skipper told reporters in the press room that "Castro deserves a hat-tip." "He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Castro hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit." Dave Castro doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Elijah Cains in the 6th, singled in the 8th and walked in the 8th.
