Cooner Goes on Rampage Against Isotopes
Wednesday, April 29th, 1970
Getting 5 hits in a game has always been memorable feat in baseball. In the San Rafael HS's 24-13 win over Fountain Valley HS today, left fielder Tim Cooner was red-hot, scorching them for hit after hit at Isotopes Ballpark.
"To hit the ball consistently well, you have to relax," Cooner said afterward. "I was relaxed for the first four hits, but I have to admit, I got a little tight when I realized I had a chance for five. On the last at-bat, I was ready to swing at anything close."
Tim Cooner singled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a two-run double in the 6th, doubled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th.
Currently Cooner is batting .424 with 36 hits and 2 home runs. He has knocked in 25 runs and scored 21 times.
