Hit Streak Over, Greyhounds Stop Peters
Monday, May 4th, 1970
Visalia HS shortstop Jared Peters experienced something against the Temecula HS Greyhounds he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game.
The Greyhounds pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 25 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Rays to a 6-4 victory at Pittsburgh HS Grounds.
"Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 25-game hitting streak," Peters joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories."
Currently Peters is batting .355 with 3 home runs, 28 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
