Hit Streak Over, Ports Stop Hansen
Tuesday, May 5th, 1970
Maybe it really is taboo to talk about a hitting streak before it's over. Hours after speaking to the press about his 24-game hitting streak, Fairfield HS first baseman Nick Hansen went hitless in 3 at-bats today at Ports Ballpark.

The sudden hitting drought came as the Peacocks took the 5-4 win over the Downey HS Ports.

"Nope, it's not magic," Hansen said in his postgame press conference. "Nobody jinxed me. Streaks don't last forever. I've heard about it every day for weeks now. My roomie told me to get a hit before every game and wished me luck. I just ran out of hits."

Thus far this season Hansen has hit .342 with 5 home runs, 32 RBIs and scored 26 times.
