Henri Named SL2's #1 Hurler Monday, May 25th, 1970 He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Jon Henri performed like a veteran on the hill for the South Whittier HS Wild Riders and walked away with the Conference 2 Pitcher of the Year Award in the process. The 17-year-old Wild Riders star fashioned a 7-2 won-loss record in 1970 with a 3.02 ERA. In 53.2 innings of work and 10 starts, Henri struck out 48 while giving up 53 hits and 17 walks. He held opposing batters to a .250 average. Edwin Burbano of the Burbank (Los Angeles County) HS Emeralds finished second in voting, while Bernardo Carvoeiro of the San Mateo HS Birds finished third. |
