Edwards Batters Costa Mesa HS for 5 Hits Sunday, April 5th, 1970 Randy Edwards put on a hitting clinic today at Devils Ballpark, spraying hits all over the ballpark and lashing Costa Mesa HS pitchers for 5 hits in 6 at-bats. However, the offensive onslaught wasn't enough for the South Gate HS Rock Fish, who still fell, 14-11. "Sometimes I try to pull the ball too much, so today I just went with the pitch," Edwards told reporters after the game. "It's great to get 5 hits, but it would have been nicer to win the ballgame. too." Randy Edwards hit a two-run home run off Jay Parker in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, hit an RBI single in the 6th, flied out in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
