Rausch Blisters Fairfield HS Monday, April 6th, 1970 It was a good day for the Troglodytes at Peacocks Ballpark as they clipped the Fairfield HS Peacocks, 16-2. It was tremendous day for Phil Rausch, who was on a hitting barrage at the plate, finishing 5-for-6. "I don't know what to call that," the Gresham HS shortstop told reporters after his big performance. "I'm not 'dialed in' or 'in a zone,' I just try to keep it simple. Basically the pitcher throws the ball, I try to pick up the spin, then I hit it. Today I picked up the spin pretty well." Phil Rausch singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Ignacio Velez in the 4th, flied out in the 7th, hit a two-run double in the 8th and hit a two-run double in the 9th. For the season, Rausch is hitting at a .385 clip with 1 home run, 12 RBIs and has scored 6 runs. He has 10 hits, 5 walks and a .484 on-base percentage. View Boxscore |
