5-for-6 Day for Allen Tuesday, April 7th, 1970 There was no storybook ending. Mike Allen of the Vallejo HS Goats socked it to the visiting Daly City HS Red Claws with a terrific 5-hit game today, but his team didn't get the win. The Goats fell, 7-3, at Tulsa HS Grounds. "I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here," Allen complained following the loss. "When you have a great game you should win the game, too." He definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Vallejo HS manager sympathized with his shortstop, telling BNN reporters after the game that "Mike played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough." Mike Allen doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 6th, singled in the 8th, singled in the 10th and walked in the 12th. Allen is presently batting .419 with no home runs, 3 runs scored and 3 RBIs. His OBP is .500. View Boxscore |
