5-Hit Game for Kuhn Wednesday, April 8th, 1970 It seemed that Gresham HS left fielder Gene Kuhn could do no wrong as the Troglodytes KO'd the Annihilators, 14-12 today. Kuhn rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats and seemed to know which pitches Annihilators hurlers were throwing. "I think the Troglodytes were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Ventura HS fan after the game. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Kuhn in the postgame press interview. Gene Kuhn hit a two-run home run off Bobby Drum in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, doubled in the 4th, doubled in the 6th and singled in the 8th. So far this season Kuhn is batting .513 with 2 home runs, 12 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has 20 hits in 39 at-bats, 6 walks and a .596 OBP. Kuhn has played in 8 games. View Boxscore |
