Leming Smacks 5 Hits for Thunderbears Sunday, April 19th, 1970 The Rancho Cordova HS Thunderbears stopped the Newport Beach HS Heroes by a score of 21-8 at Thunderbears Ballpark today, with the lion's share of the credit going to right fielder Chris Leming. The 15-year-old had a career day, collecting 5 hits. "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate," Leming said later. "He wants to hit the ball hard." Leming did just that in his 7 at-bats, much to the chagrin of the Heroes. "Not much that I can say," offered Newport Beach HS manager . "He just hammered the heck out of us." Chris Leming hit an RBI single in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, flied out in the 4th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 8th. Leming is swinging at a .390 pace on the year with no home runs, 18 RBIs and 18 runs scored. He has played in 15 games. View Boxscore |
